Instructions for enabling JavaScript on a PC

Internet Explorer 6 and above

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
Under Select a zone, click the Internet zone.
Under Security level for this zone, click Default level.
Click the OK button at the bottom of the window, and then OK again.
Return to H&R Block.

Instructions for enabling JavaScript on a Macintosh.

Safari

Click on Safari, then select Preferences. (PC Safari users: Click on Edit, then select Preferences.)
Click on the Security tab.
Under Web content, ensure that Enable plug-ins and Enable JavaScript are checked.
Close the window.
Quit Safari, and then restart the browser.
Return to H&R Block.

Mozilla Firefox version 2 and above

On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Content tab, click to select the Enable JavaScript check box.
Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
Click the Go back one page button to return to the previous page, and then click the Reload current page button to run scripts.
Return to H&R Block.

Mozilla Firefox version 2 and above

Click on Firefox and select Preferences.
On the Content tab, click to select the Enable JavaScript check box.
Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
Quit Mozilla Firefox, and then restart the browser.
Return to H&R Block.

Downloading & Installing Updates

You can update H&R Block At Home from within the program or by downloading an update from the H&R Block At Home Update Center.

To update H&R Block At Home from within the program:

Open the program.
Go to the Tools menu, and select Update The Program.
If there's an update available, click Update.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update.

Note:

Windows users: How to download an update from the H&R Block At Home Update Center:

For a federal update:

Under the Federal section, locate the section for Windows Users and click Download the most recent federal update for 2009 H&R Block At Home.
From the drop-down list, select the product version, and click Download Update.

For a state update:

Under the H&R Block At Home State section, click View Availability to check if there's an update for the client's state program.
If an update is available, click Get Windows Update.
From the drop-down list, select the appropriate state program, and click Download Update.

Save the update file to the desktop.
If H&R Block At Home is open, close it.
Double-click the .exe file. If you can't find the update file you downloaded, you may have to perform a search for the file.
Follow the instructions displayed by the update program to complete the installation.

Macintosh users: How to download an update from the H&R Block At Home Update Center:

For a federal update:

Under the Federal section, locate the section For Macintosh, and click Download the most recent federal update for 2009 H&R Block At Home Software.
From the drop-down list, select the product version, and click Download Update.

For a state update:

Under the H&R Block At Home State section, click View Availability to check if there's an update for the client's state program.

From the drop-down list, select the appropriate state program, and click Download Update.

Save the update file to the desktop.
If H&R Block At Home is open, close it.
Double-click the .dmg file.
